This week has seen us at St Bride’s, Eagle Lodge, Saughton Park and Spartans. Each group has a unique flavor, reflecting the character of those who attend. We managed to do Saughton Park at the Bandstand and it might well be our last session outdoors for this year. We had 55 people attending which once again was great. Although the guys from Garvald were with us we missed our fourth member of the band. It is a joy to hear people sing with such enthusiasm and our fourth member sings with gusto and joy. Hopefully we will see him next time.
As some of you know The Forget Me Notes Project took over the oversight of a project called All Singing and Dancing. It is a project aimed at those with a learning difficulty and meets on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. It is truly inspirational and has added so much to Forget Me Notes. It is great to see so many people with a learning disability attending choir projects and building relationships with those who use the different parts of the project. It has been so good when attending special events, seeing just how many people whose lives have a different context come together as one.
I have been looking forward to Together in Song and on Friday we were at the Festival Theatre. It was great! We were celebrating the Fringe and singing the songs that we did at the Mound the previous week. We had so many people singing and dancing. I like to stand at the back to say goodbye to folks when the session has finished. It gives me the chance to hear from people as to how the session has been received. It was so good hearing people say just how good the afternoon had been.
Well it is nearly here. We are about to take part in the Kiltwalk on Sunday. I have really enjoyed the posts that Elizabeth has made, telling the stories of those volunteers that are taking part. The commitment of our staff whether paid or unpaid is just wonderful. It is a token of what they give every day to those they support. What makes Forget Me Notes different is the love that is seen between us all making what we are unique and authentic. This is why I feel so privileged to be a part of it. On Sunday as we walk together we will hold all those we support and have supported in our hearts and celebrate all that is Forget Me Notes.
