Monday and Tuesday were interesting days. On Monday we were at Morningside. I never made Zoom afterward due to the horrendous traffic jams around the Edinburgh by-pass and airport roads. We learned why later and our thoughts are with the families who have been affected by the accident. On Tuesday I was at ASAD which I haven’t been to for a few weeks. It was great to be a part of. The enthusiasm and the joy is simply wonderful.
Jean and I spent a few days in York which was lovely. I enjoy walking through the Shambles and the unique place that York is. (I quite enjoyed the sausage roll from the bakers too).
We came home on Saturday and today I took part in the Kiltwalk. You will have seen the photos and the various posts that Elizabeth has posted. A huge thank you to Elizabeth who has done so much work to ensure everything was organised so well. The organisation both of today and the sponsoring has meant we have got way past the target that was set. With the tax that we will get back we will have raised more than £4000 which is a fantastic effort.
Thank you to all those who walked and those who have sponsored us. I really enjoyed my walk and my opportunity to hear the stories of some of our carers. It just makes me realise that we work alongside some amazing people.
While we were away I was asked by someone what song spoke to me the most? It’s always a difficult question because it depends upon the day and my mood. One song that is never far away from my heart is the Louis Armstrong song “Wonderful World”. “The colours of the rainbow so pretty in the sky are also on the faces of people going by” . Do you remember Desmond Tutu who spoke about the rainbow people? I cannot be sure what he meant but I know for me I think of the colours that different people bring into my world. I hope as you share this week together that you will see in those who live around you their unique colour, and what they bring to your life. You could take the time to shake their hands. As Louis Armstrong said “really they’re saying I love you”.
