Trustee Recruitment

We are looking to expand our current group of trustees!

As The Forget Me Notes Project grows and develops, we are looking to expand our current group of trustees. Trustees are responsible for governance and strategy, and for making sure that the charity is administered effectively. You can read more about the role of a trustee here: https://www.oscr.org.uk/managing-a-charity/trustee-duties/

We recognise that each person brings with them different experience and interests, and these help to build a strong team. At the current time, we are particularly interested in recruiting trustees who may have a background in finance, business or fundraising, as well as an interest in the work that we do. Trustees currently meet once per month (via Zoom) plus occasional meetings in person (including our AGM) in Edinburgh.

If you would like to chat more about this opportunity and how to apply, please contact admin@forgetmenotes.org.uk

We had a wonderful time for Together in Song, our collaboration with Capital Theatres, funded by The Paul & Nick Harvey Fund. You can watch the concert here:

10/9/2021

We’ve now done 2 concerts as part of our Together in Song collaboration with Capital Theatres series generously supported by the Paul & Nick Harvey Fund. We’ve had a great time singing songs curated by our members and written by participants of Capital Theatre’s Tea & Jam sessions. Whilst we haven’t been able to open the concerts up in person, we have been able to broadcast the concert via Zoom thanks to the wonderful technical team at Capital Theatres. Our next concert will be on Monday 11 October at 1400 where we’ll be singing another curated list along with two new tracks from the Tea & Jam crowd. If you’d like the login details for the concert, please contact Alan@forgetmenotes.org.uk

We are delighted to report that we have received a significant grant from The Paul & Nick Harvey Fund. This will help to fund the choir, re-start our Music Memory Sessions and develop a really exciting new piece of work in conjunction with the Festival Theatre, where we will create a series of concerts that celebrate a person through their own playlist.

You can read more about the funding through Music For Dementia at https://musicfordementia.org.uk/.

FORGET ME NOTES DURING COVID19

These are challenging times for everyone. As you can imagine, The Forget Me Notes Project has had to temporarily stop all of our Music Memory Sessions, as the various venues are currently on lockdown.

However, we are pleased to say that the Forget Me Notes choir is continuing! We are running choir sessions every Monday & Thursday at 2.00pm on Zoom. We email the songs to everyone in advance, and then are able to sing together and enjoy each other’s company.

One of the aims of our charity is to combat isolation, and we hope that these regular choir sessions offer a small opportunity to help make people feel more connected.

If you would like to join us you would be more than welcome. If you have access to a computer / smartphone / tablet we can talk you through how it all works. Please get in touch with us via the website, email, or you can phone Alan on 07588 894587.

18/05/2020

On 18th May 2020 our Zoom choir had an international flavour as we welcomed some new friends from Italy!

A charity called AIME (https://www.aimareggioemilia.it/) provide services for people living with dementia in Northern Italy, had heard about what we are doing, and wanted to see for themselves how our Zoom choir works. It was wonderful to welcome Stefano, Renata and Linda, and have them sing with us.

They commented, “Many thanks for letting us take part in your online meeting. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know you all and see what you are doing. We are now even more enthusiastic about the possibility of doing something similar in Italy. Arrivederci! Stefano, Linda & Renata”

It is wonderful to share what we are doing internationally.

Remember that our Zoom choir is open to all. Please get in touch with us for further details.
