It seems ridiculous that we are in December and that Christmas is only a few days away. As of now we will be singing Christmas songs and carols which all evoke memories for people that will be different, but equally important.
On Monday I was at the City Chambers. Forget Me Notes are singing for the Lord Provost’s reception which is great and will enable us again to increase the reach of Forget Me Notes in the City. The Lord Provost has been, and continues to be, a wonderful advocate of Forget Me Notes so we will take this opportunity of saying a huge thank you.
We held the first formal meeting of the Policy and Procedures group; I am personally delighted that we have been able to establish such a group. It means that on a regular basis we can draw up and review the policies and procedures that are required to build the foundation that our vision will be built upon. Having a team of people who do this is important as it means we get a wider view on the different ways in which we work.
I am currently trying to pull together a funding application for the Open Lottery fund. The application form is 35 pages long which is a lot of work, so I am doing this a bit at a time and will need to read it through at the end to make sure it says everything that it should.
As you will be aware we have a new Music Therapy student who is with us until March of next year. Hannah has made a great start to her placement in with the various groups she has attended. It’s not always easy to just walk into a space and feel confident enough to make yourself known and become a resource to others. This however is exactly what she has done, and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together. I think it will be an excellent learning opportunity not only for Hannah but for Forget Me Notes too.
I delivered a piano to St. Bride’s on Friday. I was delighted to get it there as we will be able to use it at the various groups we hold. It is meant to be like a train station piano where people can simply stop and play and enjoy the sound it makes. Whether that is a tune that people know or whether it is an expression of sound for the person playing. Music can be such a release from tension and stress so having a space where emotions and feelings can be channelled into a creative opportunity is just brilliant.
I must say a word of thanks to all those staff who have made our time at Ashbrook so meaningful. Ashbrook was closed on Thursday and the Forget Me Notes sang at the closing gathering. We were given the opportunity to reflect on all the people who have worked there and attended the different activities that have been delivered over the years. We were reminded that it is the love that we have shared and will continue to share that is the vital part of who we are and what we do.
Hope you have a great time - sharing love with others this week.
