Monday 20th October 2025

As I said last week the Sing-a-thon is just around the corner and we are all systems go. The songs are chosen, and the songs will be available soon. I will make sure that the link to the funding page is on our Facebook page by the end of the week. It would be great if you were able to sponsor us. If you are unable to sponsor us you can still take part by coming on Zoom and singing with us during the day.

On Tuesday afternoon we were at Eagle Lodge. If you are not on Eagle Lodge Facebook page never mind, if you are go on and have a look at the fun we had. It was great to see residents singing and dancing with staff joining in. It was brilliant.

Wednesday saw us at North Edinburgh Arts in the morning with more new people attending. In the afternoon we were at Manor care home which is a new setting for us. It went well and the residents engaged well with the music and memories that were shared.

On Thursday we were at Saughton Park where we had fifty people in the glasshouse. I am not sure how people are hearing about us, but we are seeing more people coming to share our sessions together.

On Friday we were at Ashbrook the energy was great. It is not only a chance to sing and share stories together but a place where are able to have lunch together. I am amazed how the group has bonded and are able to share experiences of life in ways that are inspirational.

Forget Me Notes are here to challenge isolation, build community and provide environments for self-expression. We are dementia friendly and open to all, which gives us the opportunity of understanding each other whether we have a diagnosis or not. At the end of the day our most important diagnosis is that “we are all Jock Thampson’s bairns” If we were to fully embrace each other and our differences just imagine how colourful and beautiful our community could be.

Hope you have a great week.
